Malware Good or Bad

Your job is to investigate 'malware' and inform the rest of us about malware. Tell us what it is, why it may be harmful, how it is used, etc. Tell us how to protect ourselves and our computers. Give us tips if you want.

Tell us how widespread malware is in our lives.

  2. Malware is spyware that sneaks around in your computer secretly and takes your information. Malware includes computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware, dishonest adware, scareware, crimeware, most rootkits. I used Wikipedia. You can protect your computer with antivirus programs such as Norton and McAfee.

It was originally used as a prank by people trying to see how far they could spread something. Now, it is used to attack computers in hopes of stealing some sort of information. Data can be stolen in the form of viruses, worms, trojan horses, etc. You can protect yourself from this by installing an anti-malware program and being careful what links and emails you open. Malware is very widespread, and in 2005 Microsoft reported selling malware removal programs to over 270 million Microsoft users.

Malware is often used to collect personal information about someone, or sometimes even as a prank. You can prevent being infected by malware by installing a protective software program. You should also be careful what you download, and make sure it is from a secure site.

The most detrimental problem with malware is that the hacker can access your personal information. Identity theft is often the "come-after" crime of hacking. There are many ways malware can be used by the putruder, one of the most common ways is through email attachments. Other ways of hacking your computer include create falty websites, bundling small viruses under "reputable" applications, and other ways. There are tons of ways your computer can be hacked and people are thinking of new ways everyday. The best ways to stay safe from this crime is to use afirewall, update your software, adjust your internet explorer settings(safest possible settings), use anti-virus/wnti-spyware protection, and most importantly use your common sense online. Malware is incredibly widely spread, every 1 in 47 computers is said to be infected, and the spread of malware is becoming worse.

The main problem with malware is that the hacker can be acessing our personal files and could potentially picking out things that could cause us problems in the future. There are many ways that the putruedr can use malware, one of the most common is through e-mail attachments. The best way to avoid malware is by setting up a firewall. This will help you keep your persnal infomation safe.
