Internet Searching Assignment

Determine keywords and search terms for the following scenario:
You have been given the task of preparing a presentation for your class about kangaroos.

Think about the various pieces of information that you would want to include in your presentation: habitat, food, species, pictures, sounds, etc.

List the keywords and search terms you used.
Bookmark your findings on Delicious (TAG AS: kangaroos). You must bookmark sources from each search engine listed below..

Do a search or your keyworks and search terms using EACH search engine (Google, Bing, Yahoo).

Screen print your search results (just like we did when we screen printed the Delicious screens). Copy the screen prints into a Word document and save. You will turn this in on Thursday.

For this posting, comment on the following:

  1. I think Google was the best working search engine because the first link gave me a ton of information and facts. But on Yahoo and Bing the first link didn't give good information.
Yahoo and Bing pretty much gave the same exact links in the same order. They were not very reliable. However, Google gave a ton of good links.

  2. The search engine that worked the best was bing, both yahoo and google had considerably more results. Each search engine got its own amount of information for the topic. Some search engines could possibly have picked up on more information than other search engines.

  3. -I think Google works the best, because they give you many websites that you can go to.
-For each search engine your going to have different results, because some websites are visited different amounts on each search engine.

  4. The search engine that worked the best was Bing. Yahoo! and Google search engines brought up lots of unrelative information;such as kangaroo movies, sales having anything to do with kangaroos, and even kangaroo jack. Bing's first page were all sites having to do with facts on kangaroos (the animal). Google was the most commercial search engine, but Yahoo! was the worst when it cam to relativity of the search term. Overall, Bing was definetely the most efficient

  5. In my opinion, Google worked the best because it gave me way more information than yahoo or bing. Google was also faster.

  6. I think Google worked the best because the advanced search options made it much easier to narrow down what you were looking for in an easy way.
The search results varied depending on how you typed the keywords into the search box and each sites had different results based on which was most accurately matched.

  9. In my opinion Yahoo! was the best, and google wasn't bad. Yahoo! was straight to the point on this topic, and google showed to many shopping links.

The search engines give you different results because they are diffrent.

  11. The search engine that worked best for me was bing. Bing came up with a ton of information about kangaroos. Unlike google and yahoo, which gave me results that were completely irrelevant, such as shoes and basketball.

  12. 1. Google search worked better because Google is the most versitile search engine.
    2. Goole brings up every major website. Bing did a great job as well, but i still think Google did a better job. Yahoo did the least best out of the three search engines, not that it was terrible, but it just wasn't as good.

  13. The search engine that worked best for me was Bing. It came back with lots of information about the topic. Yahoo! and Google did not give me informatin that was that related to the topic of Kangaroos. Each search engine is gonna give you different results because the websites viewed on each one is different and will vary.

  14. I believe Google worked the best because it gave the most relevant and largest variety of information. The search results were different because Bing and Yahoo basically gave me the same stuff and they didn't have much that was really about kangaroos.

  19. For this particular search Yahoo worked the best because google and Bing showed me links for shoes and food, things that have nothing to do with the animal kangaroo. But yahoo showed me a link for a small town football club called the kangaroos which is also way off point.

  20. For this assignment Google was the best to use in my opion. I say this because Bing and Yahoo were too slow and Google was way faster then them.

  21. In my opinion, yahoo is a better search engine only for the simple fact that its fast, gives you what your were looking for without doing an advanced search, and I think that yahoo is a network you can trust. It isnt unrealiable like google, because when you type something in on google that your specificly looking for it brings it up in different laguages, just anything that dosnt relate to what you wanted to search for.
